The babies in our family all use the Baby Trekker (BabyTrekker) sling carrier. Some of our friends use a really good carrier called the Ergo baby carrier. I thought it would be interesting to compare the two carriers.

Easy nursing: You can nurse with the Ergo. It’s a bit more complicated since you need to loosen the shoulder straps so that your baby is sitting lower. With an older child you will have to pull your breast up to their mouth level. Is there support for the head?: Yes Wide straps for comfort: Straps are narrower which reduces the comfort. Front pocket: No front pocket. Number of positions: 3 positions – Back position facing inward, front position facing inward, hip position. Affordability: Can be purchased at an on line retailer for $115.

Baby facing: BabyTrekker faces both in and out. Advantage Baby Trekker. Backpack position: Both have a backpack position but the BabyTrekker allows baby to face both in and out. Nursing: It is easier to put the baby into nursing position with the BabyTrekker. Advantage Baby Trekker. Front pocket: BabyTrekker has a front pocket for storage when carrying baby and can be used to store the carrier when not in use. Advantage Baby Trekker since Ergo does not have a front pocket.
